Hornos Hits as Men's Soccer Ties at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The TCNJ men's soccer team erased a late deficit to snatch a 1-1 draw at Arcadia on Wednesday night.

Despite trailing on the scoreboard with just over 10 minutes left in regulation, the Lions (0-4-3) dominated from the outset and were unfortunate to settle for their third stalemate of the season. TCNJ outshot the Knights by a wide margin (24-6), and Matias Hornos – who netted the 80th-minute equalizer – racked up three more shots than the entire Arcadia team.

TCNJ had an 11-1 advantage in shots at the half, but nothing to show for it. Hornos was a constant threat, ripping off six shots in the first 23 minutes and forcing a pair of Arcadia saves.

The pressure continued unabated after the break, and the Lions looked to finally have their breakthrough in the 73rd minute, only for J.J. Zaun's rocket shot from inside the box deflected away by a reflex save from the Knights netminder. On the ensuing corner, John Ramos had a header volleyed off the line by an Arcadia defender, and the misfortune continued seconds later as the home side scored in transition with a long header to take a 1-0 lead.

Undaunted, Hornos pulled TCNJ even about six minutes later, getting a pass from Zaun to his feet and ripping a left-footed shot past the Arcadia keeper and inside the left post.
