SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The No. 14 TCNJ field hockey team fell to Swarthmore after the Garnet scored the game's lone goal with 2 seconds remaining of the first quarter on Wednesday night in a defensive contest.
Swarthmore's Sophia Hitchingham corralled her own rebound and moved to her right, beating Lion goalkeeper
Brigitte Racey after falling to make her initial save.
Racey helped keep it a one-goal game by preventing the Garnet (3-3) from a prime scoring opportunity after beating Katherine Kohn to a loose ball about 10 yards out in the third quarter.
The Lions (3-3) had extensive pressure in the final quarter but couldn't beat Swarthmore's Cassandra Conklin, who earned her second consecutive win over a pair of top-25 teams.
