WATERFORD, CT – In a 34-team field featuring 11 nationally ranked teams, the TCNJ men's cross country team ran to an impressive 12
th-place finish.
Brandon Chen led the way for the Lions in the main race, finishing 25
th overall by completing the 8K course in 24:32.40. Next were
Matt Granizo (45
th, 24:54.36),
Kevin Matthews (84
th, 25:19.03), and
Josh Santiago (92
nd, 25:26.57) to join Chen in the top-100. After that group of four,
Evan Melito (119
th, 25:51.54) and
Moksh Patwari (122
nd, 25:54.01) crossed the finish line.
Phil Pace (169
th, 26:26.82) and
Anthony Guarino (234
th, 27:32.57) completed the 8 TCNJ runners in the main race in which the Lions placed 12
th as a team.
TCNJ also had several runners competing in the overflow race.
Sean Haggerty and
Sawyer Stellitano led the way there, and placed within two tenths of a second from one another. Haggerty finished 29
th in 25:58.22 and Stellitano finished 20
th in 25:58.42; both of those times were PRs. Joining Haggerty and Stellitano in the top-100 were
Simon Bernhardt (92
nd, 26:58.11) and
Nate Kidwell (94
th, 26:59.69). Freshman
Andrew Scalercio followed, finishing just outside of the top-100 in 115
th (27:18.95). Finally,
Ryan Segalla finished 184
th in 28:00.53) as the Lions finished 8
th in the overflow race.
The men's cross country team's next competition will be in two weeks at the NJAC Championships on November 1.
