PITMAN, N.J. – Five TCNJ student-athletes were rewarded for their outstanding performances with weekly honors from the NJAC on Monday afternoon.
Andrew Kidchob (Swimmer of the Week) and
Gabe Beverini (Rookie) gave the men's swimming and diving team a pair of honorees in its season debut.
Jadyn Huff was named Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey,
Jameson Sessa was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week in football, and
Matt Will received Rookie of the Week laurels in men's soccer.
Kidchob guided the team to some of the fastest times in the nation in the Lions' season opener t Monmouth on Saturday. He posted the 5
th-fastest time in the 100 Back, 6
th-fastest time in the 200 Back, and led off the 200 Medley Relay on their way to the 3
rd-fastest time in Division III. His individual split on that relay is also the 8
th-fastest 50 back time in the nation. All four performances are also NJAC top times for Kidchob, who is now a two-time Swimmer of the Week.
Beverini made an immediate impact during his first meet as a Lion. He posted the 4
th-fastest time in the nation in the 200 IM, which is also an NJAC top time. His performances in the 100 & 200 Breast were both the 2
nd-fastest in the NJAC, behind only teammate
Tyler McGeehan. Finally, he anchored the 400 Free Relay that posted the 9
th-fastest time in the nation and the top clocking in the NJAC.
Now a two-time Rookie of the Week, Will continued his hot stretch of play for TCNJ, finding the back of the net twice in a 1-0-1 week. The freshman scored the game's opening goal in the Lions' 1-1 draw with New Jersey City before striking again for the game winner in TCNJ's 2-0 victory against William Paterson – a win that also secured the program a spot in the NJAC Playoffs for the first time since 2021. Will's five goals and 11 points in conference play rank third in the NJAC.
Huff collected her third Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season and fifth of her career after she tallied two goals and three assists in Saturday's 7-0 rout of Ramapo. The three assists marked a new career high, and the seven points established a new conference high for a single game. For the season, Huff is first in the NJAC in assists (11), third in goals (11), and second in points (33).
Sessa now has his first career NJAC weekly honor after he racked up three tackles for loss, including a sack, among his six total tackles in TCNJ's 24-7 victory at Kean on Saturday. Sessa, who was credited with two quarterback hits, went over 20 tackles for loss for his career.
