PITMAN, N.J. – A sweep by the TCNJ men's swimming and diving team gave the Lions five NJAC weekly award winners, the league announced Monday.
Andrew Kidchob (Swimmer of the Week),
Derin Ozbas (Rookie of the Week), and
Josh Bouchard (Diver of the Week) made it a clean sweep of the men's swimming and diving awards, and that trio was joined in recognition by
Hannah Simons (women's Diver of the Week) and
Matthew Solomon, who claimed the first of the newly-minted Defensive Player of the Week honors for men's basketball.
Kidchob had a huge performance for the Lions in their win over NJAC rival No.22 Salisbury on Saturday. Kidchob kicked off the meet by leading off the winning 200 Medley Relay with an NJAC top time in the 50 Back. He then went on to have the two most dominant performances of the day, winning the 100 back by over one second and the 200 back by over three seconds. Both of his times are also the fastest in the NJAC, behind only his own performances from earlier this season. Kidchob's hat-trick tied the most wins at the meet, matched only by his teammate, Ozbas.
Ozbas swam the fly leg of the Lions' B 200 Medley Relay unit that was able to touch-out the Salisbury B Relay for third-place points. Ozbas then blew away the field in the 200 free, posting an NJAC top time along the way. He would also go on to claim victory in the 100 free with the 3
rd-fastest time in the NJAC, and also led off the winning 400 Free Relay to cap off a huge day.
Bouchard had the best meet of his career during the NYU Invite. He placed third on 1-meter and fourth on 3-Meter on his way to two lifetime best performances. He broke 200 points on both boards for the first time ever, improving by over 30 points on each board.
For the first time in her career, Simons qualified for regionals at the weekend's NYU Diving Invite. She scored 252.5 on the 1-meter (her regional-qualifying score) and 229.2 on the 3-meter.
Solomon grabbed 22 rebounds in two games at Drew this weekend, pulling down 13 in a season-opening win over FDU-Florham and pairing nine points and nine rebounds in Sunday's close loss to the host Rangers. The senior also had a block and two steals for the weekend.
