PITMAN, N.J. – After leading the TCNJ men's basketball team to a tournament title and a nationally ranked win,
Jonathan Okocha was announced as the NJAC Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Okocha played a leading role as the 24
th-ranked Lions captured their third straight Greg Grant Tip-Off Tournament title. The senior sharp-shooter averaged 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on 66.7-percent shooting from the field (14-of-21), including a sizzling 64.7 percent from 3-point range (11-for-17) on his way to Tournament MVP honors.
Okocha made 8-of-11 from 3-point range en route to a career-high 28 points in a 106-74 rout of CCNY on Friday, then paired 17 points with eight rebounds the following night as TCNJ outlasted No. 13 Wesleyan in an overtime thriller for the title. Okocha added four assists and a pair of steals for the weekend, and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
