Lucca, No. 12 Lacrosse Race Past Moravian

EWING, N.J. – The No. 12 TCNJ women's lacrosse team put on a captivating display of offensive dominance in a 23-6 rout of visiting Moravian on Wednesday.

Marissa Lucca went wild for six goals and six assists, a career-high 12 points that left her one short of the single-game program record, and Ally Tobler matched her with six goals for the Lions (4-0), who scored on their first six shots in posting their highest goal total since a 25-9 win at Moravian in last year's season opener.

After Veronica Campbell opened the scoring, Lucca single-handedly scored three goals and assisted on another by Tobler in the span of 78 seconds. Gabriella Roosa's goal on a feed from CJ Kole extended the margin to 6-0 in just over five minutes before the Greyhounds (2-3) got on the board.

Roosa responded to Moravian's opener with a terrific goal off a spin move, and goals by Kole and Lucca in a 23-second burst put the Lions on top, 9-2, after a scintillating first quarter.

Lucca set up back-to-back Tobler tallies separated by 43 seconds, putting the blue and gold on the brink of a running clock with an 11-2 advantage. The Greyhounds pulled two back, but Roosa netted a feed from Kole and Tobler put up another sequence of back-to-back markers to swell the spread to double digits (14-4) at the midway point of the second.

Lucca assisted on a goal by Roosa before tallying another with 1:13 to go in the period, giving her a whopping five goals and five assists before halftime. She registered a sixth assist on a goal by Campbell in the third and evened her line with a sixth goal at the 12:28 mark of the fourth.

Kelly Nevins and Ava Steinmetz each scored their first collegiate goals for TCNJ in the second half, while rookie Abbie Teefy had a goal and an assist for the second game in a row.

Julia Charest played the first half in goal, and Hailey Wexler made two saves in relief before giving way to Jordyn Landman, who made her first career save in the final minute.
