MANHEIM, Pa. – The TCNJ wrestling team set a new program standard with a remarkable 11 student-athletes earning Scholar All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
Mike Conklin,
Jimmy Dolan,
D.J. Henry,
Dan Hong,
Sam Kotch,
Hunter Mays,
Colin Menier,
Kyle Nase,
James Romaine,
Gavin Rucci, and
Nick Sacco all received the prestigious honor, which requires the following lofty benchmarks:
- WRESTLING - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
- Place in top 8 in the regional tournament
- Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.
- ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
- Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
The 11 Scholar All-Americans surpasses the previous program record of nine, and includes five NCAA qualifiers in Conklin, Henry, Kotch, Mays, and Sacco. Conklin, Mays, and Sacco were also All-Americans on the mat, placing in the top-8 of their respective weight classes at the NCAA Championships.
Sacco is now a 4-time Scholar All-American, while Nase earned his third such honor. Kotch and Romaine now each have a pair of Scholar All-America nods.
