FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – Gabriella Roosa's latest prolific performance powered the No. 11 TCNJ women's lacrosse team past Farmingdale State, 22-10, on Wednesday afternoon.
Roosa had five goals and four assists to lead the Lions (7-2), who led from the first minute on and never looked back in posting their fourth victory with at least 20 goals this season.
CJ Kole (seven),
Marissa Lucca (five), and
Ally Tobler (five) all had at least five points for the blue and gold.
Tobler was on the board first, and it took just 35 seconds to do it. After setting up Tobler's opener, Roosa registered her own goal 30 seconds later for a quick 2-0 lead.
Jules Loughran dented the scoreboard with the first of six tallies for the Rams, but Kole had a goal and two assists during a 4-1 spurt that had the Lions up, 6-2, with just under five minutes to play in the opening quarter.
FSU (3-6) got within 6-3, but Lucca fed Roosa for a goal with 32 seconds left in the first, part of a 3-0 run featuring unassisted markers from Kole and Tobler that made it a six-goal lead (9-3) early in the second.
Two more Loughran goals shaved TCNJ's lead down to 10-6, only for
Veronica Campbell, Tobler, and Kole to hit the back of the net during a stretch of three goals in 90 seconds to bring about a 13-6 advantage at intermission.
The Rams scored the first two goals of the second half to make it 13-8, but got no closer.
Naomi Kahney's woman-up goal restored a six-goal edge, and the spread remained that way into the early portion of the fourth quarter. Ahead 16-10, the Lions ended the game with six unanswered goals from five different players, including rookie
Abbie Teefy.
