Pfluger Gets Win No. 600, Lacrosse Tops Stockton in Road Finale

GALLOWAY, N.J. - The 13th-ranked TCNJ women's lacrosse team was on the road to take on Stockton in NJAC play Wednesday night, besting the Ospreys 16-5 – the Lions' 11th victory of the season. This was no ordinary victory, however, as the win also served as the 600th of head coach Sharon Pfluger's historic career, making her the first women's lacrosse coach in any division to reach the milestone.

Pfluger, already the winningest women's lacrosse coach across all divisions, now sits alone atop the mountain of greats as she continues to lead the Lions in her 39th season .

TCNJ (11-4, 4-0 NJAC) got on the board early in Wednesday's game with two goals in the opening four minutes from Marissa Lucca. The Lions were held in check for the remainder of the quarter, splitting four goals with the hosts – both coming from Ally Tobler – to take a 4-2 lead into the first break.

Wednesday's second quarter is where the game blew open, with the Lions outscoring Stockton (10-5, 1-3 NJAC) 7-0 to balloon their advantage to nine at the half. Gabriella Roosa started the onslaught with her first of the day just 27 seconds in before Tobler and CJ Kole combined for the next four, giving TCNJ five scores eight minutes into the quarter.

Lucca struck again just 41 seconds after Tobler's second of the stanza to push the Lions' goal total to 10, with the junior converting once again at the buzzer to make it an 11-2 game.

Ava Steinmetz and Roosa each found the back of the net to start the second half – pushing TCNJ's unanswered goal streak to 10 since the end of the first – before the Osprey's Julia Gibson finally stopped the run to cut it back to a 13-3 game.

The sides traded goals to start the fourth quarter, with the Lions holding a 15-5 advantage before Tobler scored her fifth of the night en route to the 16-5 win.
