Women's Tennis Shuts Out New Paltz, Drew in Sunday Double

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MADISON, N.J. – The TCNJ women's tennis team swept both New Paltz and host Drew in a busy Sunday afternoon of non-conference action.
 
The Lions (7-5) won all six doubles courts and all 12 singles tilts combined against the host Rangers and No. 60 New Paltz, which will join the NJAC next season.

DOUBLES
  • Doubles was tightly contested in the Lions' first match of the day. Elizabeth Ring and Gabriella Robinson posted a 6-3 victory at No. 3, which was the most lopsided result of the match
  • Aira Abalos and Anusha Perinkolam edged Angelica Gabriel and Sydney Sladicka by a break, 6-4, at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point
  • Zoey Albert and Shruti Mannan managed to eke past Justine Stanejko and Isabel Van Der Veen in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5)
SINGLES
  • Mannan (third flight) and Robinson (fourth) were first off the court with 8-0 pro-set shutouts
  • Albert clinched the team win with an 8-3 defeat of Stanejko on the top court
  • Abalos downed Sladicka, 8-4, at No. 2
  • Gabrielle Brideau won by the same margin against Gabriel at No. 6
  • Ring sealed the sweep with an 8-7 (3) tiebreaker victory at No. 5, fighting off three match points at 6-7 to force the decisive tiebreak

  • Abalos and Perinkolam put up a 6-0 bagel at No. 2
  • Ring and Robinson sealed the doubles point with a 6-1 rout at No. 3
  • Albert and Mannan knocked off Mary Kalorin and Sophie Weaver by a 6-3 score at No. 1
SINGLES
  • Albert handled Kalorin, 8-3, at No. 1, the tightest tilt of the match
  • Abalos rolled past Weaver, 8-1, at No. 2
  • Mannan (No. 3) and Robinson (No. 4) each notched an 8-2 victory
  • Brideau swept past her opponent, 8-0, in the fifth flight
  • Claire Hardy, making her 2025 dual debut, cruised to an 8-1 win in the number six flight
NOTES
  • Abalos took over sole possession of 6th in program history in doubles wins, running her career total to 75
  • Abalos now ranks 13th in TCNJ history with 127 overall victories
