No. 12 Lacrosse Cruises Past Kean

EWING, N.J. – Kelly Nevins racked up a career-high four goals and joined five other teammates in posting at least four points as the balanced No. 12 TCNJ women's lacrosse team routed Kean, 21-2, in NJAC action on Wednesday afternoon.

Ally Tobler paired five goals with two assists, Marissa Lucca handed out five assists, and CJ Kole matched Nevins with a four-goal afternoon for the Lions (9-2, 2-0), who extended their winning streak to four and went over 20 goals for the third time in that span.

It took TCNJ all of 11 seconds to go ahead for good, with Kole taking the opening draw and streaming through the Cougar defense for a quick-strike goal. Twenty seconds after Abbie Teefy got on the board, Kole converted a free-position opportunity, and Tobler's own eight-meter effort gave the blue and gold a 4-0 cushion before the game was five minutes old.

Tobler and Kole found the back of the netting again to make it 6-0 with just under seven minutes left in the opening period, a score that held until Kean (2-8, 0-2) dented the board for the first time with 15 seconds left in the frame. Lucca, however, went right down the field off the draw and scored eight seconds later to restore a six-goal edge at 7-1.

Nevins netted her first of the day to make it 8-1 about a minute into the second before Tobler tallied back-to-back markers less than a minute apart. Kole's goal on a feed from Lucca started a running clock with 8:39 left before half, and two goals off the stick of Gabriella Roosa put the Lions on top, 14-2, at the break.

The goals came in pairs in the third quarter for TCNJ. Tobler assisted on consecutive goals by Veronica Campbell, and Nevins hit the back of the net twice in about two minutes.

Tobler and Nevins scored one more goal each in the fourth, and Mckenah Schilp scored the first of her career with 2:15 to play for the final margin.
