Field Hockey Flies Past Juniata

EWING, N.J. – The No. 23 TCNJ field hockey team put up a touchdown on Saturday against Juniata, rolling to a 3-0 start with a 7-0 lightning-shortened rout to kick off a five-game home stand.

Jadyn Huff had two goals and an assist, Prisha Dhruve reversed those numbers, and Kara Wilson posted her second straight multi-goal effort for the Lions. Mackenzie Hart paired a goal with an assist and Emma McElroy scored the first goal of her career.

The game was called with 10:57 remaining in the fourth quarter, with lightning closing in on the stadium.

Despite racking up 12 shots in the first quarter alone, it took the home side most of the period to dent the scoreboard. It happened on a gift, as Kara Wilson intercepted a back-pass and slotted home into the corner of the cage for a quick-strike tally that made it 1-0.

The Lions poured it on with 13 more attempts in the second stanza, with Hart scoring a goal of her own before getting a stick on Wilson's second marker of the afternoon. McElroy opened her collegiate account with 3:03 to go before halftime, extending the hosts' advantage to 4-0.

Huff took over in the third, setting up Dhruve's first goal of the season just a little more than two minutes out of intermission. She then fired home Dhruve's corner insert with 1:24 left in the quarter and tacked on one more for good measure less than a minute later.

About four minutes into the fourth quarter, the game was called for lightning.
