EWING, N.J. – The #9 TCNJ men's swimming and diving team sent off their seniors in style, flying past Montclair state on senior day.

Before the meet, the eight-man senior class — Hunter Adams, Brian Bull, Gavin Formon, Andrew Kidchob, Wyatt Marble, Dylan Negron, Nate Ross, and Nick Viola — was honored. Right after the celebrations, the Lions got off to a hot start by going 1-2-3 in the first four events.

TCNJ's relays started by going 1-2-3 in the 200 medley, and then Will Heinze took the win in the 1000 freestyle (9:51.55) to kick off the individual events. M.J. Hoban followed up with a victory in the 200 freestyle (1:45.18), and Mason Bushay claimed the win next in the 100 backstroke (53.34).

Montclair State took the next two events, but those would be the only Red Hawk wins for the day. Joe McChesney got the Lions back on track with in the 50 freestyle (21.95). After the first break, Tyler McGeehan won the 200 breaststroke (2:10.19) and Derin Ozbas got it done in the 500 freestyle (4:46.65). McChesney then eked out a narrow win in the 100 butterfly (49.93), finishing less than a tenth of a second ahead of second place.

The Lions closed out the meet as they started it, going 1-2-3 in the 200 IM and the 400 freestyle relay. Pablo Salazar took the win in the 200 IM (1:57.49), and TCNJ's C relay claimed the win in the relay.

After finishing up their home schedule, the Lions now look ahead to the remainder of their road schedule. The divers will be in action next Saturday, January 31 at the USMMA Invite, while the rest of the squad looks forward to the NJAC championships.
