McFadden Powers Women's Hoops to Whiteout Win over Stockton

EWING, N.J. -  The TCNJ women's basketball team used a career day from Brooke McFadden to complete the regular-season sweep of Stockton Wednesday night, besting the Ospreys, 75-59 in a Whited Out Packer Hall.

McFadden could not be contained in another double-digit victory for the Lions, setting career-highs in both scoring (21) and made triples (4) while pacing all players with nine rebounds. Amanda Baylock (16) and Grace Kowalski (12) joined the sophomore in double figures, with Katie Fricker posting a game- and career-high seven assists to pair with eight rebounds.

Three of the Lions' (10-9, 9-3 NJAC) first four buckets were triples — two courtesy of Baylock and one from McFadden — shooting TCNJ in front 11-5 and setting the tone for the afternoon in the opening four minutes. A Fricker 3-pointer with less than a minute on the clock stopped a 6-0 Stockton (10-9, 7-5) run and pushed it back to a two-possession game before an Ospreys putback in the final seconds made it an 18-16 game after one.

Wednesday's game was decided in a second quarter that saw TCNJ hold Stockton to a scoring droughts of over four minutes on two separate occasions — the Ospreys scored just four points in the frame. Kowalski and Baylock combined to open the quarter on a 6-0 run before Stockton finally got itself on the board with a Haleigh Shafer lay-in at the 5:23 mark. Stockton would score on its ensuing possession to make it a 26-20 game, but that is all the Lions would allow the rest of the way, outscoring the visitors 9-0 over the final 4:40 to take a 35-20 lead into halftime.

McFadden came out of the break on fire, scoring 14 of her career-high 21 points in the frame to to put the game out of reach. The sophomore opened the half with a triple, hitting two more on back-to-back possessions to cap off a 12-2 run that gave the Lions their first 20-point lead of the night (53-33). Stockton would score twice in the final minute, but 3-pointers from Cassidy Brown and Baylock in response ballooned TCNJ's lead to 59-37 with 10 to go.

The Lions' advantage grew to as much as 24 following a layup from Maddie Bernhardt at the 2:55 mark before Stockton closed the game on an 8-0 run, with the final buzzer clinching the 75-59 win and series sweep.
