READING, Pa. – TCNJ Wrestling rode a pair of champions and a flurry of finalists to the team title at the Mideast Futures Tournament on Sunday at Alvernia.

The Lions beat the oncoming blizzard as well as much of its competition to a final tally of 132 team points, 12.5 clear of runner-up Stevens.

Aidan Carmody (125) and Luke Reitter (141) claimed individual titles for TCNJ, with Joey DeAngelo and Andrew Mucciolo each making the final at 133.

Joey Fulco (157), Konnor Tubin (174), Henry Saxon (197), and Alejandro Camarena (285) all placed second in their respective weight classes. Clifford Dirkes (285) finished third; Dean Meissner (141), Jackson Bush (165), and Jeffrey Gessner (285) took fourth; and Vincent Genna (157) placed fifth.

THE CHAMPIONS
Carmody backed up his 2024 crown with his second Futures title, posting a 6-4 decision over Stevens' Ethan Schuler before routing the Ducks' James McGinty in a 20-4 tech fall in the final.

Reitter registered a major decision over a wrestler from Gettysburg and a 15-9 decision against Marymount's Khalil Boddie in the semifinals. A pair of near-fall points in the third period was enough to break a deadlock with Gettysburg's Peyton Reese, sending Reitter to the top of the podium with a 5-2 decision.

It was the second tournament title of the season for Reitter, who also won the Wilkes Invitational in November.

THE FINALISTS
DeAngelo and Mucciolo reached the 133-pound finals in dominating fashion. DeAngelo notched a pair of major decisions and a tech fall in the semifinals, while Mucciolo had two pins and a tech fall. The teammates did not wrestle their championship bout.

Fulco cruised into the title bout at 157 with back-to-back pins before working a tech fall against Gettysburg's Justin Musmanno in the semifinals. He conceded an 8-4 decision to Stevens' Michael O'Connor in the final.

Tubin trailed Stevens' Chris Piazza, 9-3, in the quarterfinals at 174, but came all the way back to knot the bout at 14 before ultimately pinning Piazza in the waning seconds of regulation. He won another thriller against Gettysburg's Kobe Moore in the semifinals, scoring an overtime takedown for a 10-7 sudden victory. Tubin's magic ran out in the final, where he suffered a close 4-3 defeat at the hands of Elizabethtown's Jacob Speed.

Saxon edged Stevens' Terrence Thomas, 9-7, in the quarters and pinned Marymount's Cody Freer in the semifinals before dropping a 5-1 decision against Albright's Romello Fuentes in the championship match.

Camarena made the heavyweight final at the expense of Dirkes, whom he managed to edge by a 2-1 decision in the semifinals. He was pinned by Gettysburg's Marcus Richey in the final.

OTHER PLACE-WINNERS
Dirkes took third at heavyweigfht, following his defeat to Camarena with a pin and a 7-1 decision over teammate Gessner in the third-place bout. Gessner managed a pair of main-draw victories and held eventual champion Richey to a low-scoring 4-1 decision in the quarterfinals.

Meissner benefited from a forfeit by teammate Anthony Viscido in the consolations and reached the third-place bout with an 8-5 win over Boddie.

Bush wrestled eventual 165-pound champion Ethan Bliss (Etown) to a narrow 8-6 decision in the semifinals, then scored a tech fall in the consolation semifinals.

Genna placed fifth at 157, where he advanced to the semifinals before falling to O'Connor.
