SALISBURY, Md. – TCNJ gave #4 Salisbury a run for its money, but the Sea Gulls used a three-run fourth inning to pull away from the Lions in the end.
The Lions (2-3) scored first in the game, putting up two runs in the second inning.
Chris Salmon reached got on second thanks to a Salisbury (4-1) miscue in left field. The next at-bat involved a wild pitch that advanced Salmon to third and a HBP which put
Joe Tammaro on first base.
Jake Carter and
Michael Contiliano then both singled to drive in one run each, putting the Lions up 2-0.
The Sea Gulls responded in the bottom of the second and third with a run in each frame, after which TCNJ starter Jake Beer was replaced by
John DiCostanzo on the mound in the fourth inning. Salisbury racked up four of their nine hits on the day in that frame, opening up a three-run lead that would eventually decide the contest.
Jack Reardon and
Austin Hanni also pitched an inning each, giving up no more runs and allowing just one hit between them. Unfortunately, however, TCNJ was only able to log one hit after the Sea Gulls took the lead.
