EWING, N.J. – Zoey Albert reached 100 career wins in the TCNJ women's tennis team's 7-0 sweep of Ursinus on Wednesday afternoon.
Playing outside on a glorious afternoon, Albert dropped just one game in doubles and won via double-bagel in singles to join the Century Club and help the Lions improve to 7-0 for the spring.
TCNJ conceded just two games in doubles, where
Elizabeth Ring and
Gabriella Robinson opened the festivities with a 6-0 shutout at No. 3.
Albert produced the clinching point alongside
Shruti Mannan, downing the Bears' number one tandem by a count of 6-1. That score was replicated on the second court by
Eleni Dakos and
Gabrielle Brideau.
Albert, fittingly, was first off the court in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Mariah Mays at number two for her milestone victory.
It was more of the same for TCNJ, which surrendered just seven games across the six singles matches. Dakos and Ring posted matching 6-1, 6-1 score lines on the bookend courts, while Brideau (6-1, 6-0 at No. 3), Mannan (6-1, 6-0 at No. 4), and Robinson (6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) all lost just a single game.
NOTES
- Only a junior, Albert is now 44-11 in singles and 56-13 in doubles for her career
- Robinson is next up in the chase for triple digits, currently sitting at 85 total wins
