EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's tennis team put up a strong fight, but No. 37 Skidmore proved too much in a 5-2 non-conference defeat on Saturday.
The Thoroughbreds (7-3) got the best of a set of tight doubles matches to grab an early lead, winning 6-4 at No. 2 and 7-6 (4) at No. 1 to cancel out a 7-5 comeback victory for
Sidd Arudi and
Tomas Velez at No. 3.
Skidmore doubled its lead with a win at No. 6, but the top of the lineup made inroads for the Lions (5-4).
Alberto Thomas cruised past Yuval Goodman 6-2, 6-1 on the number one court, and
Harrison Maitland-Carter roared back from a set down for a 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Kyle Lundberg at number two.
The Thoroughbreds, however, won at number three and clinched the match as Radin Sadeghi outlasted
Brett Schuster 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at number five.
