Teefy, Herlihy Lead Lacrosse to 11-3 Win at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The TCNJ women's lacrosse team got a pair of career-best outings from sophomores Abbie Teefy and Ashly Herlihy en route to an 11-3 win over Lebanon Valley Saturday afternoon.

Teefy paired her career-high four draw controls with a team-best four goals on the offensive end, while defensively it was Herlihy finishing with career highs of seven caused turnovers and nine ground balls. The sophomore added two goals to her stat sheet, also tying her personal-best mark set earlier this season.

Elsewhere freshman Abby Williams matched Herlihy with seven caused turnovers to lead the charge defensively, with Kelly Nevins finding the back of the net three times for the sophomore's fourth hat trick of the season.

The Lions (7-1) wasted no time jumping in front in Saturday's game, scoring five first-quarter goals while holding the Flying Dutchmen (6-4) without a shot attempt. Nevins struck first just 46 seconds in on a nice individual effort before Ella Okurowski scored with TCNJ up a player just over three minutes later to double the lead. Teefy, Evie Campbell and Herlihy would add themselves to the scoring column before the first 15 minutes were up to give the Lions a 5-0 lead after one.

Neither side could generate much offense in the second quarter, with the lone goal of the frame coming from Nevins to send TCNJ into the halftime break up six.

Lebanon Valley finally got on the board in the opening minutes of the third quarter, but it was Herlihy there with the response on another woman-up opportunity to reset the lead at 7-1 at the 8:10 mark. Just over six minutes later Teefy earned herself a brace by scoring while down a player – just the second time a Lion has done so this season – to extend the lead to seven with 15 minutes to go.

TCNJ kept its foot on the gas to start the fourth, scoring the frame's first three goals – the first coming from Nevins followed by Teefy's third and fourth scores of the afternoon – to balloon the Lions' lead to 11-1, but it was the Dutchmen scoring twice in the final minute of regulation before the final buzzer clinched the 11-3, TCNJ win.
