EWING, N.J. – The trio of
Marissa Lucca,
CJ Kole, and
Abbie Teefy accounted for 13 goals combined, powering the No. 15 TCNJ women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 victory over Ursinus on Saturday.
The Bears (3-2) struck first in the contest, but the Lions (3-0) quickly responded with five unanswered tallies. Teefy and Kole both scored twice before the first quarter was over, with Lucca and
Evie Campbell logging a goal each in the frame as well. Ursinus, however, kept it a three-goal game going into the second quarter.
The Lions then outscored the Bears 4-0 in the second quarter, with Kole completing her hat trick just two minutes into the frame. Teefy did the same about eight minutes later, and then Kole scored two goals in the last two minutes and thirty seconds to put the Lions up 10-3 at halftime.
In the third, the two teams each scored three times — Teefy notched a woman-up marker in between a pair of Lucca goals for TCNJ — while
Hailey Wexler made three key stops to help maintain a seven-goal lead.
In the fourth, the Lions quickly did away with any changes of an Ursinus comeback. Lucca converted another woman-up situation before
Kelly Nevins scored twice to push the lead to double-digits. Ursinus was able to score with about four minutes left in the contest, but the result of the game had already been decided.
