Learfield Directors' Cup Winter Standings
Â
EWING, N.J. – Following one of the most successful winter seasons in school history, TCNJ catapulted to 18th in the latest Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, as announced by the organization earlier today. The Lions climbed over 60 spots from the fall edition of the rankings, posting the sixth-best winter point total in all of Division III (339.25) to move into the top 20.
Â
TCNJ's meteoric rise came thanks to contributions from five NCAA-qualifying programs, including two that posted top-10 finishes in their respective sport.
Â
Wrestling led the charge with a fifth-place finish at NCAAs – the program's best finish in nearly 20 years – followed closely by men's track and field's first top-10 finish since 2010. Men's swim and dive jumped six spots from its 2025 finish to 11th in 2026 while women's track and field and men's basketball both finished 17th. Women's basketball, which made its return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018, placed 33rd to round out the Lions' point-scoring teams.
Â
TCNJ's winter tally combined with its 74.50 points collected in the Fall pushed the Lions' year-long point total to 413.75 – good enough for top marks among NJAC schools and 18th-best in Division III.
Â
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
