A valuable blocking tight end, look for Mike Thormann to have an increased role this fall. He is not only a true inside player, but is a major contributor to the special teams unit as a snapper, blocker and cover man. He has two year’s experience to his credit and will provide TCNJ with valuable skills to help run the game as well as the team’s passing attack.

He started five games for the Lions in 2005 and played in seven contests with a pair of catches and a score while adding a pair of kick returns as well. Last year, he played in five contests while adding another kickoff return for 13 yards.

A two-sport athlete at Vernon Township High School, Thormann excelled in both football and basketball there, earning first-team all-league honors in football in 2004 after serving as the squad’s captain. He also helped his basketball team win the SCIL Festival Championship title. A Dean’s List student at TCNJ majoring in criminology and justice studies, he is a 2006-2007 TCNJ Scholar-Athlete, and was also named to the 2006-2007 NJAC Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. He would like to pursue a career as a New York City Firefighter or a State Police officer following graduation.
