The 2005 recipient of the Hank Johns Award for his accomplishments last year, Matt Anzdel returns this fall having played in all 10 games. He added 24 tackles and was part of TCNJ’s defense that ranked third in the NJAC in rushing defense with just 96.0 yards per game and total defense (285.5 yards per game). TCNJ would finish the season ranked nationally in both categories, No. 21 and No. 37, respectively. Andzel returns this fall ready to elevate his contributions and provide stability on the defense.

He played his high school football for Westfield High School and served as a team captain, earning all-conference and all-county honors. The football team MVP, he also excelled in track earning MVP honors as the team captain and guided the gridiron team to the state semifinals after an 8-2 record.

A law and justice major at TCNJ, he earned a spot on TCNJ’s Scholar-Athlete Honor listing for his accomplishments. He spent the spring of 2006 in England on an externship student program.
