Biography

After walking on to the Lions’ football team as a freshman in 2004, Matthew Dalessio has developed a strong leg and emerged as the team’s lone kicker in 2006. He will be looked to once again this fall to handle all the placekicking chores as well as competing for the role to serve as the team’s punter.

He is coming off a season that saw him finish with a career-best 20 points after hitting 8-of-13 PAT’s and 4-of-11 field goals in 2006. He finished the season as the leading punter in the NJAC with a 38.7 yards per punt average on 29 punts for 1,122 yards, while averaging 2.0 points per game as the team’s kicker.

TCNJ will be looking for some big numbers from Dalessio as he closes his career out in 2007. He is majoring in health and exercise science at TCNJ and would like to pursue a career as a teacher and coach following graduation from TCNJ.

A former three-sport athlete at Cherokee High School, Dalessio excelled in football, wrestling and track and field earning 10 letters in high school. A former District 27 champion in wrestling, he won three conference champions in the shot put and is a former South Jersey State Champion in the shot put as well.
