Biography

Chris James had a quick initiation to his collegiate football career and saw considerable time under center as a true freshman quarterback. By year’s end, he had played in seven games with 242 passing yards and two scores on a 27-64 effort with four interceptions. He added a 26.9 passing yards per game average to his resume while finishing as the team’s third leading rusher with 187 yards and five touchdowns. He added 32 points and was the top returning scorer from the 2006 team.

By season’s end, he ranked fourth in the league in passing per game with a 75.0 yards per game average, while ranking seventh in the league with a 101.7 yards per game of total offense. He ranked sixth in the NJAC in scoring with his 4.6 ppg average, while ranking fourth overall in scoring with 32 points and a 4.6 ppg average.

The 2007 season saw James grow from the first game to the playoffs and become a team leader along the way. James passed for 100 plus yards in all but one game last year and surpassed two yards twice, including throwing for 238 yards in the Lions’ NCAA opening game victory over RPI. He added four games where he connected for two or more touchdowns, including a career-best four as he helped the Lions beat NJAC foe, Western Connecticut State.

He earned NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after passing for four touchdowns in the Lions’ sixth consecutive victory. In the win, he completed 8-of-14 pass attempts for 179 yards and four scores, including touchdown strikes of 51, 32, 52, and 10 yards. He also rushed 12 times for 37 yards in the victory.

He finished the season ranked fifth in the league in total offense after averaging 185.1 yards per game and was ranked sixth in the conference in passing yards per game after throwing for 155.4 yards per game. The returning junior signal caller has already thrown for 19 touchdowns on his young career, while passing for 2,390 yards on his career. He is 10-5 as a starter under center enterring the 2008 campaign.
