Tri-Captain
Elected to serve as a team captain for the coming fall, Mike Skomba returns this year as a seasoned veteran and will lead the offense. He played in all 12 games a year ago as a starter on the offensive line and by season’s end was tapped for the 2007 NJAC All-Star Second Team on the OL. Skomba possesses leadership skills and extensive experience as a returning starter and will be looked to this fall to help the Lions retool after graduation losses.
As a sophomore, he was a six-game starter for the Lions on the offensive line in 2006 with one start on defense and was named the recipient of TCNJ’s football Lion Award for his accomplishments and dedication to the program. He was the team’s most consistent lineman and carried that success over into the 2007. During his career, he has helped the team on both sides of the ball after playing on defense as a freshman. He was the team’s most consistent lineman last season and will most certainly be counted on this season to be a key performer after an impressive sophomore season.
A three-year letterwinner for the Lions, Skomba is a former All-Somerset County honoree and team captain at Somerville High and led his team as a senior to a 9-1 record. Skomba also excelled in track and was named the team’s 2006 recipient of the Lion Award for his contributions to the squad.
He is majoring in history education at TCNJ and would like to pursue a career as a high school history teacher and coach following his graduation from college.
