A three-year letterwinner with the Lions, Nick Tranchina started his career as a performer on special teams and has become a major contributor with the squad. Part of a nationally ranked defensive unit, the Lions have held their opposition scoreless twice this fall and four times during his career.
Tranchina is a former three-sport athlete at Piscataway High School, having excelled in football, wrestling and track serving as team captain for all three teams during his scholastic career. He helped the football team finish first in their division and second in the state, while personally earning first team all-conference, all-county and all-area honors.
He is a TCNJ Scholar-Athlete and is majoring in health and exercise science. He is joined on this year’s team by his younger brother, Derek, a sophomore defensive back. He is the son of the head football coach and athletic director at Westfield High School, Ed Tranchina. Active in the community, he served as a volunteer coach with the Ewing Little League Baseball Team two summers ago and helped the team enjoy a very successful season. He also served as the football representative to TCNJ’s Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAC) for the 2003-2004 academic year..
