Biography

Personal:  Anthony was born on June 28, 1983.  He is the son of Anthony and Susan Sorrentino and is majoring in Health and Physical Education.

Now in his fourth season with the Lions, Tony Sorrentino has found his spot in the lineup with the receivers after a break through campaign as a junior. On the fall of 2003, he had a career-best 316 receiving yards with one touchdown for the Lions. He hauled in a 36-yard reception in the Lions’ 21-0 win over WPU to put himself into the team’s scoring race for the year. He was a three-year starter on special teams early on in his career.

Active in the community, he was a leader and a coach last summer for the Ewing Little League program and helped the team to a championship title in 2003.

A three-sport athlete at Mountain Lakes High School, Tony earned varsity letters in football, basketball and lacrosse. A team captain in football, he was selected as all-area, all-county and all-conference first team honoree. Twice during his time with the football squad, the team went 8-3 and was a state semifinalist. By the end of his scholastic athletic career, he was voted the athlete of the year after also leading the men’s lacrosse team to a 19-1 record and the Gibbs Division Championship.

An exercise science major at TCNJ, he is also active as a member of the men’s lacrosse club. He recently completed an internship with the Houston Texans. In addition, he has also served as the head basketball coach for Hopewell Valley’s eighth grade team as well as the assistant head lacrosse coach at nearby Allentown High School. His is the son of Anthony Sorrentino, a 1968 graduate of Trenton State. During his collegiate career, Sorrentino, Sr. was a two-way starter for the Lions and the team co-captain of the 1968 team which went 5-2-1.
