Personal:  Steve was born on March 15, 1983 and is the son of Frank and Barbara Vogt.

Now in his fourth season with the Lion football team, Steve Vogt emerged as the squad’s top tackler last fall and capped his junior year with a spot on the 2003 NJAC All-Conference Second Team at linebacker. He finished the year as the team’s top tackler with his 68 tackles and was part of the league’s top rated defense as TCNJ was ranked nationally in total defense (No. 18), rushing defense (No. 13), and scoring defense (No. 72).

Individually, he ranked 12^th in the league in 2003 with his 6.8 tackles per game and helped the 2003 Lions earn recognition in several national polls and statistical categories.

As a Lion rookie in 2001, he played in nine games and had just six stops. He returned the following year to elevate the level of his play considerably as he again played in nine games. This time he recorded 31 tackles, including 13 solo tackles. After a career best campaign in 2003 where he helped the Lions return to post-season, he brings 105 career tackles into this season and has been a strong leader for the Lions’ defense and should be a player that will continue to help the team again with his athletic ability and tenacious level of play.

He was a three-sport athlete at Ocean Township High School where he earned six varsity letters in football, wrestling and baseball. The captain of all three teams as a senior, Steve earned a selection as the Monmouth County Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and helped the football team earn the Group IV State Championship, while as a member of the wrestling team Ocean Township captured the District 23 Championship and the B-North crown. He was the recipient of the Wade Watkins Scholarship for his accomplishments on the playing field and in the classroom.

He is a business major at TCNJ.
