As a rookie, Justin Mannick made his presence known on the field as he recorded 24 tackles with six coming for a loss. He was the team’s 12 leading tackler in 2001 and contributed a pair of pass deflections with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
He stepped up his efforts even more in 2002 as he added 34 hits, including 14 for a loss. He had 14 tackles for losses totaling 73 yards and threw in eight sacks for -53 yards in his second season. He added two more pass breakups and a pair of fumble recoveries to help the Lions’ defense.Â
A talented player with a knack for big hits, Mannick was looked to last season to help fill graduation losses in 2003. He played in nine games on the season and recorded 16 tackles with 3.5 tackles for a loss (-12 yards), as well as two sacks (-10 yards). He added a 24-yard interception return with two pass breakups and a pair of forced fumbles. He brings 74 career tackles in 28 game splayed into the 2004 season with 23.5 tackles for a loss (-101 yards).A health and physical education major at TCNJ, Mannick was a three-sport athlete at Phillipsburg High School, starring in football, basketball and baseball.
