Deon Henry enters his first season as an assistant football coach for The College of New Jersey where he will be the Defensive Passing Game Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. 
 
Prior to TCNJ, Henry spent eight seasons as an assistant football coach for Rowan University where he was the secondary coach and coordinator of football operations.
 
In 2017, Henry was nominated and voted a finalist for the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Assistant Football Coach of the Year. That season, he coached the defensive line and had an All-NJAC performer in Kevin Stokes. In 2016, Henry coached three All-NJAC selections at defensive back, and he had four all-conference honorees in both 2014 and 2015. In 2015, Rowan finished the season ranked 13th in the nation in total defense.
 
Henry helped the Profs to three consecutive NCAA Division III playoff appearances from 2012-14 while also winning a pair of NJAC titles in that span. In 2012 and 2014, Rowan led the NJAC in total defense. Through that three-year span, Rowan consistently ranked at the top of the NJAC and nationally in interceptions and passing defense.

Previously, Henry served as an assistant football coach at Cumberland Regional High School (2004-2005).  Prior to coaching high school and collegiate football, Henry served his community by coaching the youth programs in Millville (1996-1998), Vineland (1999-2001) and Pittsgrove Township (2005-2010). 

Henry attended Wesley College and played defensive back before transferring to Norfolk State University. Henry is also a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Health and Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Psychology.  Henry is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) where he serves on the Public Relations Committee and the Minority Issues Committee.  Henry is also a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
