A four-year letterwinner, Matt Hamilton is back on the Lions’ sidelines this fall after excelling on the gridiron during his collegiate career. He was a 2000 NJAC Honorable Mention squad pick as a punter and also set the Lions’ longest field goal record as well in 2000. A talented kicker, Hamilton converted a 51-yard field goal try against Union College for the longest field goal in Lion gridiron history. Over the course of his collegiate career, Hamilton tallied 105 points, which is second best among all Lion kickers after he added a 15-33 effort on field goals and a 60-68 mark on PAT’s. He also shared time as a Lion punter during his time with the Lions and recorded 103 career punts for 3,228 yards, good enough for a 31.34 yards per punt average.
Hamilton coached for two seasons at nearby Hamilton High West under coach Tom Hoglen working as a special teams coach and defensive back assistant with the program in 2003 and 2004. He also served as an assistant baseball coach under Jim Maher (2000-2004) and helped the team earn three CVC championships and the 2000 group 3 state championship. In addition, he also serves as the head ice hockey coach at Hamilton High West and in entering his fifth season with the team.
