Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey’s women’s swimming and diving team opened the new season on Friday night hosting Montclair State University at TCNJ’s Aquatic Center. TCNJ swept the meet as the Lion women bested MSU, 161-70. TCNJ’s team now stand at 1-0 each, while the loss was the first of the year for the Red Hawks as they fall to 2-1.
           TCNJ’s junior Stefanie Rashti (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) was a double winner for the Lions as she won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.97 and the 200 butterfly in 2:17.80. Another double winner was Lion rookie Stephanie Seto (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) as she captured the 500 freestyle in 5:34.09 and the 1000 freestyle in 11:30.21.

Junior Ava Kiss (North Brunswick, NJ/Stuart Country Day) took home first place for the Lions in the 200 individual medley (2:16.48) and the 100 freestyle (55.44), and was also part of the Lions’ first place 400 medley relay team that won the first event of the meet in 4:13.78. Joining Kiss on the relay were junior Christine Marino (Scotch Plains, NJ/Mount Saint Mary’s Academy), sophomore Emily Reichard (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), and the last swimmer on the relay, sophomore Brittany Collyer (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township).
           Collyer won the 50 freestyle in 25.82, while Marino won the 200 backstroke in 2:20.40 to lead the Lions.
           Senior diver Lee Swanson (Princeton Junction, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) won both one meter diving events as she posted scores of 164.70 and 244.73.
           MSU’s junior Tracey Groel (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.90.
           The Red Hawks also captured first in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:13.06 as senior Katie Eaches (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield), sophomore Kaitlin Muchler (Vineland, NJ/Vineland), freshman Jessica Patalano (Edison, NJ/Bishop Ahr), and sophomore Amy Wuko (Wildwood Crest, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) swam the race for MSU.
