New Haven, CT…The College of New Jersey’s men’s and women’s swimming teams competed on Sunday at Division II Southern Connecticut State University. TCNJ’s men dropped a 125-114 decision for their first setback on the year and are now 2-1. The Lion women fell 127.5-109.5 and are now 1-3 this fall.
TCNJ’s men opened the meet with a victory in the 400 medley relay as they posted a time of 3:36.38 as junior Kevin Oliver (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), sophomore Ted Yoa (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine), junior Josh Forsman (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial), and senior captain Kyle King (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) all combined for the win. TCNJ also won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:13.85 as Forsman, junior captain Liam Gallagher (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), sophomore Mike Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) and sophomore Thomas Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) all competed on the relay.

Gallagher won the 200 individual medley in 1:58.22 for the Lions and placed second in the 200 backstroke in 1:59.74.
Overall several second place efforts were also achieved at the meet by TCNJ swimmers. Nawrot took home second in the 50 freestyle in 22.48 and fourth in the 100 freestyle in 48.60. Molloy picked up second in the 1000 freestyle in 9:57.32, while King picked up two seconds. The first in the 200 freestyle in 1:45.96 and the second in the 100 freestyle in 48.01.
           Sophomore Mike Heaney (Voorhees, NJ/Bishop Eustace) place third in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.22, while Yoa placed second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.21.
Senior George Savulich (Edison, NJ/St. Joseph) picked up second in the 200 butterfly in 1:59.27 and fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.94.
Sophomore diver Greg Lloyd (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) won the three meter diving event with a score of 241.05 and took home second in the one meter diving with his effort of 248.65.
TCNJ’s swimmers and divers return to the pool on Saturday, November 18 when they host Division II Bloomsburg University at in TCNJ’s Aquatic Center.
