Ewing, NJ….The College of New Jersey softball team saw its losing streak hit six games as visiting Ramapo College powered its way to a sweep of the Lions on Thursday, April 27 at Lions’ Park. The Roadrunners hit four home runs in an 8-2 win in the first game and then added another in the second en route to an 8-1 victory.
TCNJ is now 6-10 in the NJAC and 23-15 overall, while the Roadrunners improved to 26-9 and 10-6 in the conference. With the two wins, Ramapo remained in the hunt for a home game in the opening round of the NJAC Tournament, while the Lions are one spot away from sixth place with two games remaining.

Box scoreErica Moore (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) got Ramapo off on the right foot in the first hitting a lead-off homer to right field. With that homer, Moore set a new school record for most home runs in a season with nine.
After making it 2-0 later in the inning, the Roadrunners got another homer as
Lauren Cascino (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) belted a two-run shot giving the visitors a 4-0 advantage.
TCNJ used the long ball in the bottom of the inning to get one of the runs back as
Jen Hughes (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) connected for her eighth of the year. Her solo shot made it 4-1.
Ramapo added to its lead with two more home runs as
Beth Choma (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) hit a two-run homer in the third, while
Andrea Pastiglione (Southern California, CA/Hunterdon) hit a solo homer in the fourth.
TCNJ junior
Julianne Lajiness (Monroe Township, NJ/Notre Dame) suffered the loss for the Lions allowing three runs, while
Heather Hoffman (Annandale, NJ/Immaculata) yielded five runs in relief.
Katie Norton (Livingston, NJ/Mount St. Dominic) got the win for the Roadrunners as she improved to 8-3 on the year.

Lisa Rizzo (Dumont, NJ/Dumont) had a two-run home run in the inning with Pastiglione driving in another run with a double.
TCNJ’s lone run of the game came in the top of the fourth when
Jonna Mahalchik (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) singled home
Tara Harrigan (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), who got aboard with a walk. That run cut the Ramapo lead to 2-1 after the Roadrunners had plated a pair of runs in the third.
Picking up the win for Ramapo was junior
Marissa Marino (Wayne, NJ/Wayne) as she hurled a complete game allowing six hits.
Hoffman was tagged with the loss for the Lions as gave up five runs in three innings.
TCNJ closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 29 hosting New Jersey City University for a doubleheader, while Ramapo heads to Kean University for two games.
