Gwynedd Valley, PA… The College of New Jersey women’s soccer team posted its fifth straight shutout as the second-ranked Lions remained unbeaten by knocking off Gwynedd-Mercy College by the score of 3-0 on Monday.
The victory moves TCNJ to 4-0-2 on the season, while the Griffins slip to 5-3.
The defense once again stood out for the Lions as Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) finished with two saves, while Amy Hashem (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) recorded also saw time in goal. Clarke played the first 79:30 minutes of the game and extended her scoreless streak to 532:12.
TCNJ got all the offense it would need in the first 15 minutes of the game as Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) netted her third of the season on an assist from Kristen Cubicciotti (North Haledon, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy).
The Lions’ added two more goals later in the half scoring both them in a span of 4:04. Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) scored the first of those goals 34:53 into the half before Kristina Shemming (Cranbury, NJ/West Windsor South) scored off of a throw-in by Courtney Krol (Howell, NJ/Howell).
The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Wednesday hosting Rutgers University-Camden under the lights at Lions’ Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
