Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women’s soccer team posted its sixth straight shutout as the fourth-ranked Lions remained unbeaten by knocking off Rutgers University-Camden by the score of 3-0 on Wednesday night in Lions’ Stadium.
           The victory moves TCNJ to 5-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the NJAC on the season, while the Scarlet Raptors slip to 6-3 and 2-2 in the league.
           The defense once again stood out for the Lions as Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) finished with no saves in collecting her fifth shutout of the year. Clarke extended her scoreless streak to 622.12 minutes.
           TCNJ got all the offense it would need in the first ten minutes as junior midfielder Christine Mullin (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) scored her first goal of the season on a feed from sophomore Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) at 8:36.
           5 minutes of the game as Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) netted her fourth of the season on an assist from sophomore Laura Delaney (River Vale, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) and junior Courtney Krol (Howell, NJ/Howell) off a throw in at 54:10. Rookie Kristina Shemming (Cranbury, NJ/West Windsor South) scored at 71:40 on a feed from DiBruno to spot TCNJ to a 3-0 lead and elevated her season total to four goals in the process.
Rutgers-Camden’s sophomore goalie Jayme Gatti (Delran, NJ/Delran) made 16 saves on the night as TCNJ fired 33 shots at her.
           The Lions return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday traveling to Rutgers University-Newark at 6:00 p.m. Rutgers University-Camden hosts Montclair State on September 30 at 1:00 p.m.
