Ospreys deal Lions 64-57 defeat

Pomona, NJ…Richard Stockton College overcame a small halftime deficit to edge The College of New Jersey women’s basketball team by the score of 64-57 on Wednesday.

The loss put the Lions at 1-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference South Division and 6-8 overall. The Ospreys improved to 3-1 in the conference and 5-7 overall.

TCNJ led 31-28 at the intermission before Richard Stockton outscored the Lions by 10 in the final 20 minutes.

Junior Sara Best (High Ridge, NJ/Voorhees) poured in a season-high 17 points for the Lions in a losing cause and added seven rebounds. Sophomores Hillary Klimowicz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and Lisa Koch (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) each finished with 11 points with Klimowicz adding nine rebounds. Breanne Depken (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) had another solid game scoring seven points and adding seven rebounds.

For Richard Stockton, three players scored in double figures with Lisa Neira (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) leading the way with 17 points.

The Lions return home this Saturday hosting conference rival Rowan University at Packer Hall in a 1 p.m. start.
