Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey men's soccer team hosted the Cougars of Kean University on Saturday afternoon in TCNJ's Soccer Complex in a conference match-up. TCNJ, which is ranked in a tie for 14th in Division III, tallied a 2-0 win to improve to 10-2-3 overall with a 5-0-2 record in the NJAC, while Kean University is now 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC.

After playing to a scoreless first half, TCNJ got on the scoreboard at the when senior Charlie Heydt (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) headed the ball in off a feed from senior Craig Langan (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) at 64:17. The goal was just the fourth of the year for Heydt, but his second game winner. At the 75:41 mark, TCNJ's sophomore forward Kevin Luber (Delran, NJ/Delran) scored his team-best 10th goal of the fall on a pass from sophomore Anthony Staropoli (Raritan, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).

Luber now leads TCNJ with his 28 points on nine goals and eight assists, which brings his career total to 33 points in 31 games played as a Lion.

In net for the Lions, senior Steve Scuttellaro (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) made 10 saves while sharing the shutout with fellow senior Matt Kasperivicius (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) who added a save in the match. Kean's senior Kyle Crego (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) made 7 saves in the outing.

Combined with their win and the 3-0 win by NJCU over Montclair State in Saturday, TCNJ is now in second place in the NJAC standings with 17 points behind first place NJCU's 18 points.
