TCNJ nets road win at Kean, 2-1

Union, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's soccer team remained the only unbeaten team in the New Jersey Athletic Conference as the Lions spoiled Kean University's upset bid pulling out a 2-1 road win on Saturday.

TCNJ moved to 5-0-1 in the conference and 12-0-1 overall, while the Cougars dipped to 7-6-2 and 3-3-1 in the NJAC.

The teams battled through a scoreless opening half before TCNJ senior Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) knocked in her eighth goal of the season 2:20 into the new half.

The Cuogars knotted the score five minutes later, but the Lions got the eventual game winner with 21:08 left in the game as junior Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) posted her team-leading 12th goal of the season. It was also her third game winner of the season.

Goalie Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) in the win in goal without making a save. The keeper did allow a goal early in the second half bringing an end to her impressive streak of not allowing a goal at 1,012:48.

The Lions held a decisive edge in shots over Kean by a margin of 32-2.

The Lions will play a non-conference game on Wednesday, October 17 traveling to Stevens Institute of Technology.
