Madison, NJ… Junior Jenny Lubin (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and freshman Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each scored a pair of goals as fifth-ranked The College of New Jersey field hockey team posted a 5-0 victory at Drew University on Thursday.
With the victory, TCNJ improved to 11-2 on year, while the Rangers dropped to 9-6.
Lubin opened the scoring with 14:15 left in the first half as she scored on a feed from senior Sheri Grondski (Mercerville, NJ/Nottingham). TCNJ added another goal before the break as sophomore Jessica Falcone (Cherry Hill, NJ/Camden Catholic) tallied unassisted building the advantage to 2-0.
In the second half, Lubin netted her second of the game just under 10 minutes into the new frame making 3-0.
Mitchell closed out the scoring with two goals in a 57-second span with both of them coming off of penalty corners with Grondski and Jackie Gelinas (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) picking up assists on both.
TCNJ goalie Caitlin Gregory (Winslow, NJ/Eastern) didn't need to make a save to post her sixth shutout of the season.
TCNJ returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Saturday, October 20 heading to William Paterson University for a 1 p.m. start.
