Three goals in second half lift Lions to victory

Wayne, N.J....The College of New Jersey women's soccer team remained unbeaten in New Jersey Athletic Conference play as the Lions posted a 3-0 victory at  William Paterson on Thursday.

The third-ranked Lions are now 6-0-1 in conference play and 13-0-1 overall, while the Pioneers are 7-8 overall and 2-5 in the NJAC.

Senior midfielder Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) opened the scoring in the 51st minute with her ninth goal of the season, taking a cross from junior midfielder Coleen Weber (Mullica Hill, N.J./Woodstown) and heading it low into the right corner of the net.

The Lions struck again in the 69th minute when senior defender Courtney Krol (Howell, N.J./Howell) buried a corner kick taken by senior midfielder Kristen Cubicciotti (North Haledon, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), extending TCNJ's lead to 2-0.

Freshman midfielder Casey Caruso (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) capped the scoring for the Lions in the 84th minute with her third goal of the season, sliding a low ball past the Pioneers goalkeeper.

William Paterson goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Knolls) made four saves for the Pioneers, including a diving stop to prevent a goal in the first half. TCNJ goalkeeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) was not forced to make a save in the match. With the win, Clarke improves her record to 13-0-1 and registers her seventh shutout of the season.
