Ewing, NJ… The College of New Jersey women's soccer team scored reeled off their sixth straight win and remained unbeaten on the season as the Lions blanked the University of Redlands (CA) by the score of 4-0 on Saturday at TCNJ's Soccer Complex.
Third-ranked TCNJ is now 11-0-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs slipped to 4-3-3.
TCNJ opened the scoring exactly seven minutes into the game as junior Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) knocked in a pass from senior Dana DiBruno (Cherry Hills, NJ/Cherry Hill East). Redlands goalie Tenley Rawlings (Salt Lake City, UT/Olympus) was able to get a piece of the initial shot, but the rebound trickled over the goal line putting the hosts out to the early lead.
The Lions got on the board a few minutes later as sophomore Briann McDonough (North Arlington, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy) slide and knocked in a centering pass from classmate Kristina Shemming (Cranbury, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) making it a 2-0 game.
The hosts added their third goal of the half with 19:18 remaining as sophomore Casey Riley (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Holy Cross) recorded her second of the season on an assist from Coleen Weber (Mullica Hill, NJ/Woodstown).
In the second half, DiBruno and Kunkel again teamed up to put TCNJ on the board, but this time DiBruno got the goal with Kunkel collecting the assist. That goal came 11:51 into the second frame.
Sophomore keeper Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) made three saves for her sixth shutout of the season and extended her streak of not allowing a goal to 960:19
In goal for the Bulldogs, Rawlings collected 10 saves.
The Bulldogs continue their swing through New Jersey on Monday, October 8 playing at Montclair State University, while TCNJ is back on action on Wednesday at William Paterson University.
