Lions end season with 6-0 win at Richard Stockton

Pomona, NJ… Fifth-ranked The College of New Jersey (16-2, 6-0) dominated host Richard Stockton (2-17, 0-6) 6-0 in the field hockey regular season finale for both teams on Thursday.

Freshman Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and sophomore Jessica Falcone (Cherry Hill/Camden Catholic) led the Lions to their sixth consecutive win with two goals apiece. Jenny Lubin (Moorestown/Moorestown) and Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) each added one goal for TCNJ.

Junior Jackie Gelinas (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) dished two assists for TCNJ 

Starting goalkeeper Caitlin Gregory (Winslow/Eastern) made one save in 66 minutes and Gina Quaranta (Yardley/Pennsbury) did not face a shot in the final four minutes for the combined shutout. TCNJ scored two goals in the first half and broke the game open with four markers in the second half while outshooting Stockton 30-3 in the game.

Stockton goalkeeper Debi O'Kane (Cologne/Absegami) stood up to the heavy pressure with 13 saves. Samantha Horner (Newfield/Buena) registered the only shot on goal for the Ospreys, but her blast from the right wing in the first half was denied by Gregory.

Stockton's 2007 season came to an end with today's game. The College of New Jersey earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the NJAC champion. The NCAA tourney begins on Wednesday, November 7.
