Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Division II Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday. TCNJ's men's team posted a 163-124 win over the Owls to remain perfect on the year as the Lions are now 3-0 and SCSU drops to 1-1. In the women's race, SCSU beat TCNJ by a score of 158-139 as they are bow 2-1 and TCNJ drops to 1-3.
TCNJ took first place in the 200 medley relay team that recorded a time of 1:37.72 behind the work of senior Kevin Oliver (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), sophomore Myles O'Connor (Santa Monica, CA), senior Josh Forsman (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) and senior Liam Gallagher (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan). The Lions also won the 400 freestyle relay to close the meet with their time of 3:16.46 behind the efforts of Forsman, freshman Tom Medvecky (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway), junior Mike Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East), and junior Thomas Nawrot (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick).
Nawrot won the 100 backstroke in 53.84, while also taking first in the 50 freestyle in 21.98 while fellow Lion O'Connor was right behind him in second place in 22.58.
Medvecky won the 500 freestyle in 4:47.03, while taking second in the 200 freestyle in 1:44.48 and the 200 butterfly in 1:56.36. O'Connor captured the title in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.61, while junior Ted Yoa (Ocean City, NJ/St. Augustine) took second in 1:00.64. Yoa won the 200 breaststroke in 2:14.71. Forsman won the 100 butterfly in 51.92.
Molloy added a second place showing in the 100 freestyle in 48.71, just ahead of freshman Tim Rauch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) who had a time of 49.49 in the race. Nawrot was next in fourth in 49.89. Forsman won the 100 butterfly in 51.92, while Gallagher picked up the first in the 200 IM in 1:58.93.
In the diving, TCNJ's junior Greg Lloyd (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) won the one meter with his score of 256.85, while also taking first in the three meter event in 277.10.
