Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's women's swimming team hosted Franklin & Marshall College on Sunday afternoon. The Franklin & Marshall women's squad handed TCNJ a 104-101 loss as they improved to 1-1 and TCNJ drops to 1-2.
Senior Ava Kiss (North Brunswick, NJ/Stuart Country Day) took home first place in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.10, while adding a second place showing for the Lions in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.24.
TCNJ's freshman Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) captured first in the 500 freestyle in 5:25.66, while also capturing a second in the 1,000 freestyle in 11:01.17.
TCNJ took first through third in the 50 freestyle as the race was won by Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) in 25.88, second went to senior Lauren Pfeifer (Freehold, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) in 26.00 and third went to the Lions' rookie Michele Wilson (Millville, NJ/Millville) in 26.08. Wilson also won the 100 freestyle in 57.09, while junior Stacy Delehanty (Oceanport, NJ/Shore Regional) added a second in the 200 individual medley for the Lions as she posted a time of 2:20.47.
Senior Christine Marino (Scotch Plains, NJ/Mt. St. Mary's Academy) picked up second place in the 200 backstroke in 2:18.00.
The meet was decided in the final event as F & M won the 400 freestyle relay and TCNJ settled for second in 3:49.49 behind the work of senior Kristin Udicious (Cherry Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), Robb, sophomore Stephanie Seto (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), and freshman Melissa Wallace (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen).
TCNJ returns to action on November 10 hosting Division II Southern Connecticut State University.
