Box Score
Washington, DC… The College of New Jersey women's basketball team rolled to its third straight win as the Lions had five players reach double figures in a 78-49 victory at Catholic University on Saturday.
The victory boosted TCNJ's record to 5-1 on the young season, while the loss was the first of the year for the Cardinals (3-1).
The game was close early before the Lions made a huge run scoring the final 14 points of the opening half to gain control of the game. TCNJ held the hosts off of the scoreboard for the final 9:05 in the opening frame taking a 35-17 lead into the break.
Senior Sara Best (High Bridge, NJ/Voorhees) led the balanced offense for the Lions with 14 points with Alyssa Michella (Washington Twp., Immaculate Heart Academy) was next with 13 and freshman Kelsey Kutch (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) added 12. Adding to TCNJ's season-high scoring output were Alexandra Gregorek (Mahwah, NJ/Academy of Holy Angels) with 11 and Lisa Koch (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) with 10.
A big key for the Lions was their success in shooting the ball from behind the 3-point arc as they connected on 7-of-14 shots from long range. Michella, Koch and Nicole Diaz (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) each made a pair of three-pointers.
The Lions return home on Thursday, December 6 to host Mount Saint Mary College in a 7 p.m. start.
