Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey women’s tennis team hosted Washington College on Friday night in TCNJ’s Student Recreation Center and came away with another impressive 9-0 win. Ranked No. 29 nationally and No. 8 regionally, TCNJ is now 7-0 while Washington College drops to 0-1 and holds a No. 9 ranking in the South Atlantic region.

TCNJ’s freshman Jackie Shtemberg (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Ramapo) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Washington College’s junior co-captain Allison Daciek (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) at No. 1 singles. Ranked No. 9 regionally in singles action, Shtemberg is now 18-3 on the season.

She teamed at No. 1 doubles with junior Christina Contrafatto (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) to best the Shorewomen’s top pair, of Daciek and freshman Kellie Foster (Lothian, MD/St. Mary’s), 8-0. The Lion duo captured the 2006 ITA East Regional Doubles Championship this past fall as well as ITA All-America honors in October and are now 17-3 together. Contrafatto also posted the win at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over sophomore Kristen Hossick (Ashton, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) and is now 5-0 this year.

The Lions return to action on Sunday hosting Muhlenberg College at 3:30 p.m. in the Recreation Center.
