Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey men’s tennis team hosted Vassar College on Saturday afternoon in TCNJ’s Student Recreation Center. TCNJ, which is ranked No. 10 in the ITA Northeast Region, tallied a 9-0 win over the No. 11 ranked team from the Northeast Region. TCNJ is now 4-0 on the young season, while VC is now 2-2.

At No. 1 doubles, TCNJ’s junior Michael Klimchak (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) and junior Roger Mosteller (Medford Lakes, NJ/Shawnee) were victorious as they bested Vassar’s top pair of junior Ashish Patil (Silsbee, TX/Monsignor Kelly) and freshman Michael Mattelson (Great Neck, NY/Great Neck North), 8-2. Ranked No. 13 regionally in doubles, TCNJ’s No. 1 doubles pair is now 10-2 together this season with a 4-0 mark in dual meet competition.
Klimchak added another win on the day as he picked up a win at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0) Vassar’s senior captain Erik Skartvedt (Easton, CT/Joel Barlow) to record his 50th career singles win and is now 50-9 at TCNJ. Klimchak is now 10-1 this year in singles competition after defeating his fourth straight regionally ranked opponent as Skartvedt is ranked No. 20 in singles in the region.
Mosteller was victorious at No. 2 singles as well with his 6-3, 6-0 victory over
Mattelson and holds a 9-2 singles mark on the year.
